Ontario Tech lab wins Engineering Research Project of the Year Award for work on Project Arrow
AWARD RECOGNIZES ONTARIO TECH’S INVOLVEMENT AS LEAD ACADEMIC INSTITUTION ON THE CREATION OF CANADA'S FIRST HOME-GROWN ALL-ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Ontario Tech University’s Advanced Digital Design, Manufacturing, and Metrology Laboratories (AD2MLabs) won the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) Engineering Research Project of the Year award for their work on Project Arrow, Canada’s first zero-emission electric vehicle.
Directed by Dr. Ahmad Barari, the team utilized cutting-edge technologies in design, manufacturing, and inspection, including digitalization and multi-physics simulations. The project was a collaborative effort with the university’s Automotive Centre Excellence (ACE) and various industry partners. Key contributors included Dr. Mohsen Tayefeh, who led advanced simulations; PhD candidates Dylan Bender and Yasaman Farahnak Majd, who developed a novel method for digital surface reconstruction; and Fraser Mann, who performed critical digitalization and structure analysis. The project showcased the innovative engineering capabilities at Ontario Tech.
